Rubio departed Friday’s game after 21 minutes because of a hip injury. While the injury isn’t thought to be serious, it’s possible he misses a game or two, and since we’re close to the All-Star break the team could choose to hold him out to maximize his recovery time. Donovan Mitchell is going to get a small boost for the duration of Rubio’s absence and could see a few more minutes at point guard. That would also open up more minutes for Alec Burks at the two while Raul Neto and recently re-signed Naz Mitrou-Long will pick up minutes in a more strict point guard capacity. Hopefully the suddenly surging Rubio can play tomorrow and render all that moot.
