Steven Adams left Saturday’s game after just 17 minutes of action with a sprained ankle and did not return, finishing with eight points, one rebound and one steal.
This isn’t Adams’ finest work by any stretch of the imagination but the important thing right now is his status for next week. Owners could be in a bind without their middle-round center, and the Thunder don’t have much to offer in terms of a direct replacement. Nick Collison scored seven points in six feel-good minutes tonight while Jerami Grant hit all five of his shots and scored 15 points with eight rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench. Patrick Patterson scored 10 points in 21 minutes with four rebounds and a pair of threes, as well. Unless the Thunder opt to go incredibly small, it seems likely that they’ll bring Dakari Johnson back up to hold down the fort in minimal minutes as the starting center. If Adams misses time, however, Grant and Patterson are the guys you’ll want to look at the closest.
