Fresh off of his Israeli Premier League championship last week, Amar’e Stoudemire told Marc Berman of the New York Post that he could join an NBA team who could use veteran leadership and did not rule out the Knicks.
Stoudemire averaged 9.9 points and 5.9 rebounds as a sixth man for Hapoel Jerusalem en route to the 2016-17 Israeli Premier League championship. In the New York Post interview, Stoudemire spoke of three options: retire on off a championship, return to the NBA, or defend his title in Israel. He last played in the NBA for the Miami Heat in 2015-16, averaging 5.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 14.7 minutes per game.
