Brandon Ingram is embracing the prestige that comes with being a Laker.
“I saw where my locker was, and I definitely knew it was Kobe’s locker,” Ingram said. “I know [general manager] Mitch [Kupchak] told me I had some big shoes to fill when I came in here, but I liked it. I like the pressure that’s on me right now. It’s going to motivate me to do good things on the court. It’s all good pressure for me.” Ingram has showed humility and maturity throughout the draft and preseason process, and should continue to develop throughout the season. While his playing time will impact his rookie value in fantasy, Ingram should be an instant source of threes and steals in his first season.
January 23, 2020, 12:14 amZion WilliamsonPF, New Orleans Pelicans
Zion Williamson put on a show in his NBA debut on Wednesday night, ending with 22 points (including 17 straight 4th quarter points), seven rebounds and three assists on 8-of-11 shooting and a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Williamson only played 18 minutes but had the stadium rocking in the 4th quarter when he scored 17 straight points, keeping the Pelicans competitive before ultimately returning to the bench to see them fall to the Spurs. As his minutes increase, it will be exciting to see the damage he's capable of causing in the league and the headache he gives opposing defenses. It's a promising start for this talented rookie's career and we can't wait to see where this trajectory takes him.
January 23, 2020, 12:10 amDavis BertansF, Washington Wizards
Davis Bertans scored 24 points on 8-of-18 shooting with four assists, one steal, one block and four triples in 32 minutes off the bench on Wednesday.
The 32 minutes is the most Bertans has played since returning from his right quad strain two weeks ago. He is a must-own player in standard leagues for his 15.3 points and 3.7 threes per game.
January 23, 2020, 12:03 amBradley BealSG, Washington Wizards
Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 38 points (16-of-24 from the field), nine rebounds and five assists in a 134-129 overtime loss to the Heat on Wednesday.
Beal will post early-round value while he's on the court, but his public frustration with the Wizards adds uncertainty to his fantasy value late in the season. It is worth trying to sell-high on Beal to avoid dealing with this situation during the fantasy playoffs.
January 22, 2020, 11:56 pmIan MahinmiC, Washington Wizards
Ian Mahinmi posted a double-double on Wednesday with 10 points (3-of-8 from the field), 10 rebounds and two blocks in 35 minutes.
Mahinmi has been a top-70 player over the past two weeks, averaging 11.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 27.6 minutes per game. He's worth a look in standard leagues as he continues to start and outplay Thomas Bryant (six points and six rebounds in 17 minutes on Wednesday).
January 22, 2020, 11:53 pmDomantas SabonisC, Indiana Pacers
Domantas Sabonis worked the Suns in a 112-87 win on Wednesday, tallying 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and the line, adding 13 rebounds, one block and four dimes.
Sabonis has had 34 double-doubles this season, which is sick, considering he tallied 30 in the whole of 2018-19. He's been a beast and looks to be a strong candidate to finish the season flirting with top-25 value on and off.
January 22, 2020, 11:51 pmDevin BookerSG, Phoenix Suns
Devin Booker dropped 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting in Wednesday's 112-87 loss to the Pacers, only adding an additional two rebounds, three assists and a steal to his name.
Booker, much like the rest of the Suns, would like to put this game behind them and look ahead to their next game. As an interesting note, his backcourt partner, Ricky Rubio, finished with the same number of rebounds, assists and steals but only seven points.
January 22, 2020, 11:47 pmDeandre AytonC, Phoenix Suns
Deandre Ayton was held to 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting on Wednesday, chipping in eight rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Ayton will move on from this game and hope for better ones in the future. This game is not indicative of what owners should expect from the rising young star. He's currently a top-30 player on the season.
January 22, 2020, 11:46 pmMalcolm BrogdonPG, Indiana Pacers
Malcolm Brogdon suffered a laceration on Wednesday and did not return after seeing 16 minutes where he posted five points on 2-of-4 shooting with three assists and one triple.
Brogdon has gotten more than his fair share of bumps, nicks, and assorted other injuries this season. While he's not going to miss a lot of time with this one, likely being held out due to the blow-out nature of the game. T.J. McConnell stepped up in this one as he was able to record a 10-point, 11-assist double-double with three steals and one block in 27 minutes. McConnell is an add in deep leagues if Brogdon sits a game or two.
January 22, 2020, 11:46 pmBrandon GoodwinPG, Atlanta Hawks
Brandon Goodwin came off the bench on Wednesday to score 19 points on 6-of-14 shooting with three assists, three rebounds and three triples in 20 minutes.
Goodwin was scoreless in two minutes on Monday and got a boost on Wednesday with Trae Young (right thigh contusion) out. Goodwin can be left on the waiver wire with Young set to return soon.
January 22, 2020, 11:44 pmElie OkoboPG, Phoenix Suns
Elie Okobo saw 27 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, turning in a line of 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block.
This game wasn't close, which could have afforded Okobo a few extra reps. It's an encouraging sign to see what he did with it, but he is likely only worth a stream at most if the Suns fall victim to injuries.
