Emeka Okafor‘s comeback trail continues as he is currently finalizing a 10-day deal to play for the New Orleans Pelicans.
The 35 year old Okafor last played in the NBA for the Wizards in 2013. He will not be relevant in fantasy but actually has a good chance for some solid backup minutes for the Pelicans as Cheick Diallo has struggled to remain in the rotation. The former 2nd overall pick of the 2004 draft has career averages of 12.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks and played nine NBA seasons until injuries derailed his career. He has been playing for the 76ers’ G-League affiliate after being waived by them in training camp. In 26 G-League games, he is averaging 6.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 19.9 minutes, shooting 60.7 percent from the field.
Update: The deal between the Pelicans and Emeka Okafor is official and he’ll be available to play on Saturday.
