In an interview with Fox Sports Australia’s Olgun Uluc, Joe Ingles again said that his priority this offseason is to work out a new contract with the Jazz.
Ingles has always said that staying in Utah is his priority, and that hasn’t changed. While this might temper the expectations of other suitors Ingles will probably be on Utah’s back burner until they re-sign Gordon Hayward and possibly George Hill, so other teams will likely have their chance to make their pitch. He’s coming off a terrific season where he was third in the NBA in three point percentage (.441) while chipping in 7.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals across 82 games. Ingles also made 26 starts and was a very important part of the rotation. His restricted free agency means Utah will have the inside track on keeping him, and Ingles also said that money won’t be his biggest concern. It’ll be interesting to see what dollar amount changes the equation but for now he’s unlikely to sign elsewhere.
