John Wall spoke to ESPN’s The Undefeated about his offseason recruitment of Paul George.
Wall believes that four-time All-Star George could slide right into the Wizards lineup and would help make up the difference between themselves and the NBA elite. Wall stated “we are one piece away.” George has expressed his desire to play in Los Angeles but has one more year under contract for the Pacers. In the meantime, Indiana has appeared to accept that he will not be re-signing after next season and has begun listening to trade offers. Cleveland has tried to configure a three-team trade but has been unable to satisfy Indiana’s requirements. The Wizards made it to Game 7 of the semifinals versus the Celtics last season but fell short. George would create a big-three in Washington of Wall, Bradley Beal and himself that could make them a real contender. The chances of a deal to Washington are unclear because it still unknown what the Pacers are demanding for a “rental” of George and what the Wizards are willing to part with.
