Kelly Oubre may come off the bench behind Mikal Bridges this season.
Between January and March of last season, Kelly Oubre ranked in the top 40 by averaging 19 points, 1.8 threes, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 1 block on 46% shooting from the field, encouragingly sporting a mid-20s usage rate in 31 minutes per game. However, as good as Oubre has been, Mikal Bridges is a better defensive specialist both in reality and in fantasy, so it makes sense to pair him next to Booker and Ayton. This news is far from a death knell on Oubre's fantasy value, as the expectation had been that he'd serve as the team's best player off the bench. The bump in usage may offset lower minutes, so target him confidently in the middle rounds and keep Bridges on your radar a few rounds after Oubre comes off the board.
