ESPN reported on Sunday that the Cavs would be leading contenders for Carmelo Anthony if he can secure a buyout from the Knicks.
Despite reports that Anthony wants to stay with the Knicks, Phil Jackson has been unequivocally clear that he feels Melo would be better off elsewhere. Melo’s mess of a situation needs to be resolved and since he holds a full no-trade clause, a buyout from the Knicks is definitely a possibility. Similarly, Dwyane Wade has not yet officially opted in to his deal with the Bulls after the Jimmy Butler trade and it’s within the realm of possibility that both Wade and Anthony become unrestricted free agents and form an older super team with their buddy LeBron.
