Josh McRoberts has picked up his player option for next season, according to ESPN’s Zach Lowe.
McRoberts will be back with the Heat and make $6 million next year. It’s hardly a surprising move as the oft-injured McRoberts would have trouble making that much on the open market. He’s already spent three seasons in Miami but has played just 81 games in total and can’t seem to shake the injury bug. He was originally signed to be a helpful part of the rotation but might have trouble seeing the floor as the Heat have found a collection of younger, more versatile guys. This could also throw a wrench into Miami’s efforts to re-sign other free agents this offseason including Dion Waiters and James Johnson. If push comes to shove McRoberts is also now eligible to be traded, so watch out for that as well.
