Andrew Wiggins signed a five-year, $148 million dollar contract extension with the Wolves on Wednesday.
This was an expected move for the Wolves to lock up a piece of their young core. Wiggins has not lived up to the hype so far in his career with subpar defense and lack of contributions other than scoring. But he is still just 22-years-old and has increased his scoring average and three point stroke every season of his three year career while averaging a steal per game. The former first overall pick is nowhere near his prime yet so the room for growth is still there. His scoring may plateau this year with addition of Jimmy Butler, but his contributions in other categories should rise. In redraft leagues he is a mid-late round pick, but in dynasty leagues he can be taken earlier.
