Nikola Mirotic scored 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting (including 4-of-8 from deep) with six rebounds, three assists and one steal over 31 minutes of action in Spain’s upset loss to Croatia.
Mirotic showed off his versatility all game, playing both inside and out. He knocked down a deep trey late that gave the Spaniards a chance, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. With Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah out of town, Mirotic has top-50 potential next season. His biggest obstacle will be the number of touches he receives with Jimmy Butler, Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade also in Bulls uniforms. Ricky Rubio was invisible in 13 minutes minutes of action (one rebound & one assist), spending nearly the entire second half glued to the bench. He needs to be light years better if he intends to hold off Kris Dunn next season. Sergio Rodriguez (10, 7 & 2) took over for Rubio and showed an impressive ability to run an offense. Unfortunately, his late turnover led to an easy bucket for the Croatians that gave them the lead they never gave up. He is an intriguing option in deep leagues next season as he battles for minutes in the Sixers’ backcourt.
