Pau Gasol scored 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting (including a career-high three treys) with six rebounds, two steals and two blocks over 33 minutes in the Bulls’ 83-80 win over the Clippers on Thursday.
The Bulls are sort of desperate right now and they went with Gasol and Taj Gibson (12 points, eight rebounds, zero steals or blocks, 29 minutes) for the majority of minutes, which is an interesting indicator of who they feel best about when things are tight. Nikola Mirotic grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds to go with five points on 2-of-8 shooting, one three and one steal, but he played just 14 minutes and it’s the defense we’ve always been worried about. Joakim Noah got 20 minutes and did well to grab 13 rebounds with one steal and two blocks as he continues to return low-end value for owners over the last week or so.
