Paul George scored 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting (including five threes) with 11 rebounds, three assists and one steal in the Pacers’ 104-86 win over the Hawks on Wednesday.
The win secured a trip to the playoffs and a chance to play LeBron James. Seeing those two go at it will be a lot of fun and for George, his late-season push served as both crucial on the floor and also off the floor where there has been more intrigue. He chewed out his teammates while he was rumored to be interested in playing for other teams, in particular the Lakers, and in general has presided over a no-fun zone. The push puts him back into contention for an All-NBA slot and that would mean about $70 million in extra money he’d be eligible for in an extension. It wasn’t pretty to start the year but he finished right where he was drafted on the turn of the first and second rounds in 12-team leagues.
