• The Sacramento Kings will continue their seven game home stand Tuesday night when they host the Detroit Pistons at the Golden 1 Center.  Detroit is currently 18-21 on the season, and a few games back of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Despite a quick first-round exit last season, things were looking up for the Pistons, who had established a good young group of players to begin building around.  Led by Andre Drummond, Reggie Jackson and new head coach Stan Van Gundy, the Pistons appeared to be ready to take another leap in the standings.

While an early injury to Jackson explained their relatively slow start, the team is currently 4-6 in their last ten games, and are seeing players all across the roster struggle to perform as expected.

Here are some notes heading into the matchup:

    • Detroit has plenty of talented scorers, any of whom can get hot in a hurry.  Tobias Harris and Marcus Morris are great combo forwards that could cause trouble for Sacramento with their combination of size and mobility.  Willie Cauley-Stein has been out of the rotation in recent games, but he and Omri Casspi may be the team’s best bet guarding these two.  With Dave Joerger regularly changing rotations this season, it will be interesting to see if he gives either of them an opportunity to show what they can do.
    • Sacramento has struggled tremendously on the glass, so containing Andre Drummond should be a priority for whoever is on the floor.  Drummond is a tremendously talented rebounder, one who is fully capable of changing a game with his work on the glass. Cousins is talented enough to handle Drummond, but Sacramento’s defenders will still want to be aware of where he is any time a shot goes up.

Sacramento has struggled recently, losing their last three games and five of their last 6 overall.  The Kings faced some tough opponents during that stretch, and their inability to take home the victory in those three games makes Tuesday’s game an important one for the team.  The Kings will need to stop their slide soon if they plan to stay in contention.
