Andre Drummond scored 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting (4-of-6 FTs) with 20 rebounds, a career-high seven assists and two blocks in the Pistons’ 111-104 win over the Hawks on Friday.
Drummond has been featured as a perimeter screener as teams continue to copycat the Warriors and other teams that play with just one big man on the interior or no big men on the interior in an attempt to turn basketball into handball. That’s a fairly big story as he’s averaging 3.2 assists per game, but the top-level story is that he’s returning top-24 value and hitting 64 percent of his free throws. That’s probably not going to continue but clearing 50 percent is definitely in play and the passing is definitely a boost. It’s a sell-high moment but only for a top-50 value.
