ESPN reported on Tuesday that Joe Johnson has not asked the Nets for a buyout.
This seems like a non-update update but the topic is certainly on the table for both parties, assuming he can’t be traded. The sooner it happens, the sooner that Johnson can go help a contender and in Brooklyn that could mean good things for Shane Larkin and Donald Sloan. Neither of them are tearing it up right now (or even playing well), but both are hovering outside of the top 150-175 (8/9 cat) formats for the most part. Johnson’s considerable touches could bring their floors up to a serviceable place for owners, and Larkin’s per-minute upside is a cut above Sloan’s. Even Bojan Bogdanovic could be worth a standard league look if Johnson gets bought out.
