Justin Anderson scored 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting with six rebounds, two assists and one block in 24 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Nuggets.
Anderson missed all four of his 3-point attempts and his shooting has been a big part of his slow start this year. He had been catching a small amount of heat for that after getting benched and this was a nice little counter to that. The deep sleeper isn’t dead in the water this season but he needs to show more before he graduates from low-level, deep-league stash.
Dwight Powell (eight points, one board, one assist, 22 minutes) has a better stat set and he’s actually a late-round play on the year, but his ability to disappear is equally as scary and Anderson entered the year as a big favorite to have more minutes. Dirk’s return would hit Powell pretty hard, but the stat set gives him the edge and he’s a low-to-mid level stash.
