Andre Drummond was spectacular in the Pistons’ 122-112 loss to the Wizards on Friday night, piling up 14 points, 21 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and two blocks.
At this point, Drummond’s 20-rebound nights are just a ho-hum thing. He’s done it three times in the last eight games, averaging 15.6 boards in that time. His high-post passing is becoming a thing of beauty as he tied a season and career-high tonight with eight dimes. But his scoring does feel a little low for this one. It’s not for efficiency’s sake, Drummond shot 4-of-5 from the field and 6-of-8 from the line. The question would have to be, how did he not get more touches? He wrecked the Wizards with six offensive boards, made nearly every shot he took and played 43 minutes before fouling out. It would be easy to say that Ish Smith should have gotten him the ball more but Smith had a solid night with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting and seven assists. Drummond’s passing has been a revelation but it does seem unselfishness could be costing this powerhouse some buckets.
