DeMarcus Cousins scored 38 points on 14-of-30 shooting (4-of-10 3PTs, 6-of-7 FTs) with 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and eight turnovers in the Pelicans’ 116-109 overtime loss to the Kings.
Rajon Rondo was mysteriously rested in this one and that gave Cousins even more license to kick the ball around the yard and waste his potential messing around on the perimeter. He’s great for fantasy owners right now but until somebody helps him understand why he should be on the block a la Joel Embiid, his teams are going to struggle. Anthony Davis (groin) returned and didn’t look good, scoring 18 points with six rebounds, two assists and no steals or blocks in 31 minutes. It sure seems like the Pelicans are getting dangerously close to the cliff.
