DeMar DeRozan helped carry the Raptors to victory on Wednesday, scoring 37 points on 12-of-24 from the field and 13-of-15 from the line while adding seven rebounds and four assists.
Suns defenders had no answers for DeRozan’s slicing drives and he made them pay from the stripe. When help came his way and walled off the paint, he simply slowed up and went to work in the midrange. When defenders didn’t bite on pump fakes and send him back to the line, he calmly drilled his customary shots. DeRozan has made nice strides as a playmaker and is averaging a career-high 5.2 assists this season. That was on display here, as he did a nice job to reward his rolling big men after they cleaned the glass on the other end. He dropped 18 in the third quarter and will cruise into a top-50 finish with room for more if his diversified game holds up all year.
