DeMar DeRozan finished a category-killing 12-of-30 on Friday night’s road loss in Atlanta but was at least able to pump out 28 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Hawks threw doubles at DeRozan early and often and he transitioned into facilitator mode- a common sight since Kyle Lowry has gone down with injury. The Lowry injury has also destroyed Toronto’s spacing, forcing DeRozan into taking more threes. You know that’s not his game, and he was 1-for-8 from downtown tonight. He also chipped in two steals and just three turnovers despite handling the ball a ton. He’s fallen outside of the top-50 over the past month but should climb up a bit. Expect him to remain a usage monster for the rest of the way and be ready to take the good with the bad.
