Hassan Whiteside scored 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting with 18 rebounds and two blocks as the Heat won in their season finale against the Wizards on Wednesday.
Whiteside turned things on over the last 25 games with top-20 value and a nice 75 percent mark from the foul line, which was similar to last year’s late-season surge. The problem is that his blocks went down and there was no realistic amount of points and boards he could have jumped up that would have replaced that value for him. He was a late first round pick that finished as a late second round value, so while it wasn’t crushing it was something that chopped a leg out from underneath owners.
