Kevin Love was terrific in Monday’s road loss, dropping 31 points, 18 rebounds, six threes and two steals in 36 minutes of action.
Unfortunately for Love, he was stuck on the bench for most of the closing stretch as the Cavs chose to roll with their superior defenders. It’s fair to question that decision given Cleveland’s eventual struggles on the offensive side of the ball but it didn’t stop him from posting a monster line. Love’s 9-of-25 from the field meant that it wasn’t all roses, but his 6-of-11 from deep helps illustrate just how effective the Dubs were at keeping the Cavs in check below the arc. They shot .318 as a team despite going 15-of-36 from 3-point land and it was some very tough sledding near the rim. While Love will surely take a hit when Isaiah Thomas returns in the next week or two, he should remain a pretty solid early-round play. There’s not too much to worry about in his future.
