Kyrie Irving tried his best to prevent another Cavs loss, shooting 16-of-30 from the field and 8-of-12 from three on his way to 45 points and nine assists on Sunday.
Irving’s mastery was to no avail as Cleveland completely choked this one away and opened the door for Boston to snag the first seed out East. That might force the Cavs to play their stars, though they may also feel that they can “flip the switch” in the postseason and prioritize resting their studs. Irving is an elite scorer and a set-and-forget top-20 player.
