Zach LaVine was benched to start the second half of Friday’s loss to the Bucks, but he still managed to log 39 minutes and finish with 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting, two boards, four assists, three steals, two threes and six turnovers.
LaVine is going to get minutes unless he truly pisses Sam Mitchell off and we haven’t seen much slippage in the playing time department since the All Star break. He’s running at a top 85-100 value in his 34.5 mpg over the last month, averaging 15.7 points with 1.7 treys, 3.6 boards, 2.8 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.5 blocks and decent percentages to boot. Karl-Anthony Towns was limited to just 21 minutes despite hitting 10-of-14 shots for 21 points, seven boards, two assists, one three and one block before being benched with his starting teammates. Gorgui Dieng put up 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting with nine boards, two assists, three blocks and 2-of-2 hits from the line. He’s on a top 25-35 pace this month.
