Lonzo Ball was sublime on Saturday night, setting a career-high with six threes (including three in the final three minutes) while adding 18 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists, a steal and two blocks.
Ball’s final three put L.A. ahead for good and it came after he and the Spurs were going toe-to-toe with the outcome up in the air. Ball seems to be gaining steam as his field goal percentage has a clear upward trend since the start of the year, and even despite his yearly averages of .369 from the floor and .491 from the line the rookie remains a top-50 asset on a per-game basis. It should be noted that that’s in 9-cat, where his 2.7 turnovers per game also grade out as a negative. Ball is one of those rare players whose scoring numbers are the cherry on top of his already-terrific fantasy value as opposed to being a big part of the puzzle. He could be an early-round player as soon as next season.
