Manu Ginobili shot 6-for-11 from the field for 16 points with four threes, five boards and two assists in Argentina’s 92-73 loss to Spain in group play on Monday.
Ginobili showed that he still has something left in the tank with four threes, but Argentina couldn’t close the gap. Argentina fell behind early and played catch up for most of the game. They cut the lead to 11 in the fourth quarter, but Spain switched to another gear for the blowout. When asked about the possibility of playing Team USA amidst struggles, Ginobili said, “We know that consideration. We still don’t want to play them.”
Nicolas Laprovittola led Argentina with 21 points (5-for-14 FGs, 10-for-11 FTs), repeatedly getting to the line at will. Argentina shot just 35.9% in this contest. Starting forward Carlos Delfino was 0-for-5 with one point, while Luis Scola was 2-for-6 with seven points and five boards.
