Nerlens Noel was absolutely outstanding on Friday night, picking up six rebounds, three assists, five steals and three blocks in 27 minutes of action against the Raptors.
Noel was incredibly active on defense as you might imagine given the statline, and gave DeMar DeRozan fits on drives in particular. He also blocked a 3-point shot in overtime in a game that the Mavs had several chances to win. It’s time to add Noel, as Dallas finally seems willing to let him log substantial minutes. His explosion didn’t hurt Dwight Powell too much, as the big Canadian played 33 minutes in a start and finished with nine points, eight rebounds and a 3-pointer. His triple came in the final minute of overtime, which is truly masterful tanking-without-tanking. It dropped and the Mavs extended the game but wound up losing it on some offensive rebounds, iso posessions and a five-second violation.
