Rajon Rondo (thumb) played in Wednesday’s loss to the Grizzlies, scoring six points on 3-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds, 17 assists and five turnovers in 41 minutes.
Rondo is questionable for Thursday’s game with an ankle injury to go with the thumb issue. For all of the misleading stats he has really had a bad season on the court for Sacramento, and off the court he has been a mixed bag of good intentions and purveyor of bad habits. His fantasy value, on the other hand, has been stellar with top 20-50 value (8/9 cat) on the year. Part of Rondo’s problems is not recognizing that his big man needs to get the ball in the post where he is a given to punish the opposing team every night, and DeMarcus Cousins had yet another inefficient night. Cousins hit 7-of-18 shots (1-of-3 3PTs, 3-of-6 FTs) for 18 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, three steals, two blocks and seven turnovers as he masquerades as a shooting guard in the Kings’ ridiculous spread offense.
