Rodney Hood captained the ship in Thursday’s 100-89 win over the Spurs, scoring 11 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter and rounding out his line with 12-of-24 shooting, three triples, a steal and a block in 35 minutes.
Hood drew the start in place of the injured Donovan Mitchell, who was a game-time decision tonight. He’s been electric of late, averaging 20 points per game over his last five and knocking down 21 triples in the six games he’s played since returning from an ankle problem. That means bad things for Alec Burks, who will likely fall prey to the numbers game here. He hasn’t exactly been bad and notched 12 points and two threes in 21 minutes tonight, but there’s no chance the Jazz cut any of Mitchell’s time and it’d send a terrible message if they took anything away from Hood while he’s on this tear. Prepare to cut Burks lose while those of you who have Hood on your rosters can have fun riding the wave.
