The Warriors have agreed to trade D'Angelo Russell to Minnesota in exchange for Andrew Wiggins, 2021 protected first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com.
Minnesota finally gets their guy and Karl-Anthony gets to play with one of his BFFs. Russell heads into a new-look backcourt featuring two of Malik Beasley, Jarrett Culver and Josh Okogie, but his value should improve if the Wolves choose to deploy him without any restrictions the rest of the way. The potential for rest days is not as marked as it was in Golden State, either, so Russell will have a crack a strong finish. This also eliminates whatever "shutdown risk" Towns may have had, as the Wolves will want to see what they have in this young core by playing them together this season. The pick is top-3 protected in 2021 and would be unprotected if in transfer to the following year.
