Taj Gibson (hamstring) got upgraded to questionable for Thursday’s game against the Nets, and Derrick Rose (adductor) and Jimmy Butler (knee) are both probable.
Pau Gasol and Cameron Bairstow are out and the Bulls would be wise to restrict Gibson if he’s not really ready to go — and that’s usually how he rolls. We’re not dropping Gibson precisely because he might pull through this and benefit from the upcoming four- and five-game weeks, but it concerns us that he might re-injure himself. E’Twaun Moore and Justin Holiday are both viable options in that order, even though their production was the opposite on Wednesday. Mike Dunleavy is a sneaky play if he has actually recovered from the flu. Doug McDermott is a decent bet to score more than 15 points with two or more threes, and Nikola Mirotic is a must-start player tonight. Rose should be in many lineups and Butler is a must-start player, obviously.
