After extensive talks with the Bulls the Wolves have selected Providence point guard Kris Dunn with the fifth overall pick.
It was initially reported that Dunn was going to be traded to either the Bulls or Sixers, but it seems those talks have died down, with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reporting that the Bulls were doing little more than listening to offers. As for Dunn, he gives the Wolves a defense first point guard with prime athleticism and an impressive wingspan. He averaged 16.4 points, 1.3 threes, 5.3 boards, 6.2 dimes and 2.5 assists last season. Dunn will have to improve his shooting as a pro, but could be a useful steals guy right away. His arrival in Minnesota could spell the end of Ricky Rubio’s time there.
The Bulls' talks to acquire Kris Dunn were more serious with the Celtics than the Timberwolves, per source.
