Abdel Nader (knee) will not play in Friday's preseason game.

He'll be joined on the sidelines by Russell Westbrook and Andre Roberson, as expected. Nader's absence has no bearing on any fantasy leagues.

Alex Abrines' back spasms will keep him out of Wednesday's preseason opener.

The Thunder will be down three rotation players tomorrow with Abrines joined by Russell Westbrook and Andre Roberson on the sidelines, though the latter two were obvious given their injuries. Abdel Nader, who missed practice today with knee soreness, and camp guy Richard Solomon (sprained knee) will also sit out.

Abdel Nader sat out Tuesday's practice with left knee soreness.

Nader needed wrist surgery in the offseason so at least that's not lingering. This news won't impact anything in fantasy leagues.

The Celtics decided to part ways with Abdel Nader this weekend and the Thunder worked out a deal for the 6'6" forward in exchange for recently acquired Rodney Purvis.

Nader is on a partially guaranteed deal and could help the Thunder fill the void left by Carmelo Anthony. It's reported that the Celtics, who also received cash considerations in the deal, will waive Purvis who has a non-guaranteed deal, saving them $450K over waiving Nader and taking them a bit further under the luxury tax.

The Celtics have waived Abdel Nader.

Nader was great with the G-League's Maine Red Claws two years ago, leading to his contract with Boston last season. Unfortunately, despite all the injuries, Nader was just too deep on the depth chart to really make an impact. He's got a great G-League resume to fall back on and shouldn't have any problems landing a deal with another team. Nader underwent wrist surgery recently but is expected to be fine, while the Celtics were facing an August 1 guarantee date on his contract.

Abdel Nader underwent a wrist arthroscopy to fix lingering wrist issues and is expected to be ready for training camp.

Nader is on the fringes of a loaded Celtics roster and probably doesn't play a big role in a fully healthy Celtics group with Gordon Hayward in the lineup. He should miss two or three months and then be able to return to basketball activities.

Abdel Nader (eye) missed the Celtics' practice on Friday.

Nader was swiped in the face during one-on-one work earlier in the day and was suffering blurry vision so he was held out of team practice. He has played in more than two minutes just once during the playoffs so his availability does not have any DFS relevancy. The 58th overall pick of the 2016 draft earned G-League Rookie of the Year honors in 2017 and appeared in 54 games for the Celtics this season. He averaged 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per game with a 33.5 field-goal percentage.

Abdel Nader started in Wednesday's season finale and wasn't shy about getting his shots up, though a 4-of-15 shooting line took some of the shine off the rest of his line — nine points, eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block.

Nader tore up the G-League in its final season as the D-League but couldn't hit his shots efficiently tonight. Nader played in 48 games this season but was barely a top-400 player in terms of total value.

  • Al Horford
    PF/C, Boston Celtics

Al Horford (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's matchup with the Jazz.

The Celtics just keep getting wrecked by injuries. Horford's ailment seems to be minor for the time being, but it's still a big blow to the Celtics and the rest of the teams out West battling Utah for playoff positioning. If he sat tonight, Greg Monroe makes for a nice play by virtue of the work he's sure to get. Marcus Morris is out and Aron Baynes won't get much going against Rudy Gobert. Moose will be the best bet here, with guys like Guerschon Yabusele and Abdel Nader possibly seeing more run.

  • Jaylen Brown
    SG/SF, Boston Celtics

Jaylen Brown went through some drills and said his most likely return would be Sunday in Sacramento.

This is good to hear as Brown had a scary fall on the head and neck area following a dunk. Upon return, Abdel Nader and Shane Larkin will take massive hits, and Marcus Morris could see decreased time as well. Brown may get a minutes restriction upon return so don’t go rushing to get him quite yet unless you can stomach holding him on your bench.

Abdel Nader played 24 minutes for the undermanned Celtics on Wednesday night and acquitted himself well with 10 points, five rebounds and a pair of threes.

Nader was a G-League standout this year but hasn’t gotten many opportunities for the previously-deep Celtics. That may change going forward but it’ll take another night or two like this before he gets our full attention. Semi Ojeleye played 27 minutes, picking up five points, a three and a steal.

Abdel Nader (illness) questionable for Tuesday

Game notes have Abdel Nader listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans. After agreeing to a four-year, $6 million deal back in the summer, the No. 58 overall pick in the 2016 draft…
