  • Alexis Ajinca
    C, Los Angeles Clippers

Alexis Ajinca is expected to sign with ASVEL Basket of France in January.

Ajinca met with President/Director/Owners of the club Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum on Monday. He has not played basketball for over a year since undergoing surgery on his right patellar tendon in December of 2017 and then having the same surgery on his left knee in March of 2018. He played three seasons with the Pelicans and was waived this offseason after the Clippers acquired him in a trade for Wes Matthews. UPDATE: Ajinca’s wife doesn’t appear to be a fan of moving to France as she commented on our original post saying, “Fake news!!!”.

The Pelicans have traded Alexis Ajinca to the Clippers, who will waive him.

Ajinca didn't play last season and has been sidelined throughout the preseason. For the Clippers, it's cheaper to waive Ajinca than the since-departed Wesley Johnson.

Jahlil Okafor has been ruled out of Wednesday's preseason game.

Okafor is still recovering from a sprained ankle and was hoping to play on either Wednesday or Thursday, if not both. We'll see if he's cleared for the finale against the Raptors. Alexis Ajinca (quad) is also out.

Alexis Ajinca (right quad) has been ruled out of Sunday's game.

The last report on Ajinca was that he hasn't been cleared for 5-on-5 work so don't expect to see him in preseason action anytime soon. His presence or lack thereof won't have any bearing on fantasy leagues.

Alexis Ajinca hasn't participated in any 5-on-5 work as he recovers from knee surgery but is getting close.

Ajinca underwent surgery to repair his left patellar tendon back in March and was given a 4-6 month timetable. Even when healthy he's a negligible part of the Pelicans' rotation so this news has no fantasy impact.

Alexis Ajinca underwent successful surgery on his left patellar tendon on Tuesday and will miss 4-6 months.

The typical return to play timetable for this injury is 4-6 months so if all goes well Ajinca should return for the start of the 2018 season. The big man has been a 15-20 minute backup for his entire career and has never played over 70 games in a season.
