Monta Ellis and Amar’e Stoudemire both want a shot to get back in the league and did a workout together in Las Vegas on Monday night.

There were approximately 12 teams attending the workout, but it’s a long shot either of them can land a roster spot as teams are just finishing up their rosters and most are looking for younger players they can develop to put at the end of their bench. Ellis, now age 33, has been out of the league for two seasons, while Stoudemire, who will turn 37 this November, has not played in the league the last three years and has been spending time in Israel and in the Big Three league.

  • Amar'e Stoudemire
    C-F, Free Agent

Per Jordan Shultz of ESPN, Amar'e Stoudemire is scheduled to work out privately for at least five NBA teams on July 8th as he attempts an NBA comeback.

Amar'e was last seen playing professional basketball in Israel in 2017 and hasn't been in the NBA since the 2015-16 season. He'll be 37 in November and has an extensive injury history. It's hard to envision him doing much of anything, but crazier things have happened.

  • Amar'e Stoudemire
    C/F, New York Knicks

Amar'e Stoudemire said Wednesday in an interview on The Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio that he is contemplating a return to the NBA.

Stoudemire last played professionally in Israel in 2017 and has not been in the NBA since the 2015-16 season with Miami. He said he has been working out as if he were training for the NBA. Stoudemire is a six time All-Star and five time All-NBA selection. It would be surprising if he actually made a full, successful return but given his name and career history a team might give him a chance at it.
