The Magic have waived Amile Jefferson on Thursday in order to create a roster spot after the trade deadline.

The Magic made this move after needing a roster spot after trading for James Ennis III. Jefferson was not part of the Magic's rotation and is not on the fantasy radar.

Amile Jefferson went through Tuesday's practice and conducted his usual post-practice shooting routine ahead of the contract guarantee deadline.

The Magic have until this afternoon to guarantee Jefferson's contract for the year, and the full practice session would indicate that they plan on doing so before the deadline is up. Jefferson has seen himself enter the rotation following Jonathan Isaac's potential season-ending knee injury, but should remain on waiver wires until further notice.

    PF, Orlando Magic

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has reported that the MRI that was done on Jonathan Isaac's left knee revealed a severe sprain and bone contusion and the team will re-evaluate him in approximately two months.

Wojnarowski also reported that the silver lining of Isaac's injury is that he avoided any structural damage to ACL, MCL or PCL ligaments. Isaac was on pace to finish the year somewhere between a second round and fourth round value. He does still have a chance to return this season but that opportunity won't come until the end of the season. He can be placed on the IR spot if that is an option; otherwise it wouldn't be crazy to drop him in redraft leagues. The names to watch on the Magic that may be on the waiver wire are Terrence Ross, Khem Birch, Amile Jefferson and Mo Bamba. Ross is the only player that has been fantasy relevant in standard leagues in past seasons.

Amile Jefferson started the second half of Wednesday's game after Jonathan Isaac was stretchered off the court with a hyperextended knee – but Jefferson was not much of a factor with just two points, six rebounds and two assists to his name.

Jefferson is still too raw to be trusted in fantasy. The Magic saw Khem Birch (seven points, 10 rebounds) play some PF and projects to be the better option in deep leagues as a booster for boards and blocks while Isaac recovers.

The Magic have assigned Melvin Frazier and Amile Jefferson to the G League on Saturday.

Both Jefferson and Frazier have gotten close to no run with the Magic so far and will make their first appearance for the Lakeland Magic this season on Saturday. They spent both spent much of last season in the G League where Jefferson was their standout player with 18.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks while shooting 58.4 percent from the field.

Amile Jefferson logged 3 minutes in his debut on Friday, adding two points and two rebounds.

It was good to see Jefferson get in on the fun for the Magic, who enjoyed a blowout victory over the Grizzlies. Jefferson won't factor into fantasy without a few injuries to the Magic.

The Magic have agreed to a two-year contract with Amile Jefferson, who was on a two-way deal.

That moves Orlando's roster to 14 while opening up another two-way slot. Jefferson was solid in Summer League and played well in the G League last season, but unfortunately for him the Magic are pretty stocked up in the frontcourt.

The Magic signed Amile Jefferson to a two-way contract on Tuesday.

Jefferson helped his cause with an active Summer League and will now head to the G-League for the majority of the season. The Magic's frontcourt is deep, and it will take an injury or two for Jefferson to get an opportunity with the big club.

Amile Jefferson and the Orlando Magic have agreed to a one-year deal according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The terms of this deal were not announced. The Magic had previously rescinded their qualifying offer to Jefferson but it now appears that that was to allow them to offer him something more concrete. He will slot in as the 14th man on this roster and shouldn't see much, if any, regular playing time this upcoming season.

Amile Jefferson double-doubled with 19 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday's 85-73 win over the Bulls.

Jefferson had another great game for the Magic during Summer League play but was let go following the game. His chances of making the team were minimal as Orlando has a glut of bodies clogging the frontcourt. He impressed with a great showing this summer and may draw interest from teams with thin depth charts. Nevertheless, it is fair to forecast that he will not be a fantasy commodity this season.

The Magic have withdrawn their qualifying offer to Amile Jefferson, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Jefferson was on a two-way deal for the Magic last season and only appeared in 12 games for them, averaging 5.7 minutes. Jefferson, a 6'9" power forward, does not have a 3-point shot but displayed great ability in other categories, averaging 18.1 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks with strong percentages in the G-League last season and has played well in Summer League so far so he should be able to draw some interest around the league.

Amile Jefferson stayed productive in Wednesday night's loss to Brooklyn, putting up 18 points, eight rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes.

Jefferson has been very solid in Orlando's summer league games thus far, but appears to be headed to a very limited role, if one at all, in Orlando with all of the big men Orlando signed and re-signed this offseason.

Amile Jefferson led the Magic with 24 points, 15 rebounds, three assists and two rebounds on 11-of-17 shooting in just 26 minutes of action in Tuesday's 96-92 loss against the Heat.

Jefferson was a beast in this one as he almost helped the Magic knock off the Heat for their first Summer League loss. Oddly enough, Jefferson had a plus/minus of -9 as the only Magic starter with a negative ratio. Jefferson's potential path to minutes took a big hit when the Magic resigned Nikola Vucevic last week.

  • Khem Birch
    C, Orlando Magic

The Magic have extended qualifying offers to C Khem Birch and F Amile Jefferson, rendering both restricted free agents ahead of free agency which is set to begin on June 30th.

Birch, who averaged 4.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in just 12.9 minutes per game this past season, is seemingly a priority for the Magic to bring back, and now they'll get the opportunity to match any contracts he may fetch from other teams. Jefferson was in the G-League for the majority of the season, where he was very productive. Both may take on larger roles, should they stay with the Magic, as star C Nikola Vucevic is an unrestricted free agent.
