Bismack Biyombo

  • Bismack Biyombo - C - Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery to help with chronic issues in his left knee and is expected to make a full recovery.

Biyombo is currently the second highest paid player on the Hornets behind Nicolas Batum at $17M as Kemba Walker is no longer under contract. The Hornets are overpaying for a player that can barely crack the rotation for a non-playoff team. We should not expect this surgery to change Biyombo's fantasy outlook. His chronic knee issues are just another sign that Biyombo will not be worth the money he is being paid next season. Expect the Hornets to either waive his contract before next season ends or use it as a trade piece as it will be a large expiring contract.

Shams Charania of the Athletic is reporting that Bismack Biyombo has exercised his $17M player option to return to the Hornets for the 2019-20 season.

This was obviously a no-brainer for the Congolese center who signed his current deal with the Magic back in 2016. Biyombo was the occasional backup in Charlotte this year and increased his playing time only when Cody Zeller got injured late into the season. He is a rebounds and blocks specialist with good percentages but doesn’t offer much upside.

Bismack Biyombo started on Wednesday and finished with six points, six rebounds and one assist on 2-of-3 shooting in 25 minutes vs. the Magic.

Biyombo got the start for Cody Zeller in this one and he didn't really do much, not unlike what he's been doing for most of the season. Biyombo played 14.3 minutes this season which is the lowest since the 13.9 he played in the 2013-2014 season. Biyombo did manage to shoot better from the field this season at 56.9 percent. He was well outside of the top-300 this season and won't be worth owning next year either.

  • Nicolas Batum - G/F - Charlotte Hornets

Nic Batum (eye), Marvin Williams (illness) and Bismack Biyombo will start on Friday vs. the Wizards.

Biyombo will draw the start for Cody Zeller (knee) while Batum and Williams will rejoin the starting lineup after missing a game each to injury.

Bismack Biyombo (left knee sprain) will not play on Friday vs. the Wizards despite his probable tag.

Biyombo’s absence means more time for Frank Kaminsky (who has been playing well over his last three games). Dwayne Bacon should also be active but isn’t a good option even for a punt play.

Bismack Biyombo (left knee sprain) is probable to play in Friday's game against the Wizards.

Biyombo looks likely to keep playing through his knee injury. Biyombo has a minimal role and can be left on the waiver wire.

There are some in the organization that have concerns over Bismack Biyombo's knee, per Sean Deveney of the Sporting News.

Those concerns help explain why Charlotte has declined to move Frank Kaminsky despite earlier reports that the team would buy him out if they couldn't find a taker at the trade deadline. It also explains why Biyombo got a rest day heading into the All-Star break. The big man is a deep-league option for rebounds and blocks but if he misses time we should see Willy Hernangomez climb a rung on the depth chart.

Bismack Biyombo (rest) will not be suiting up on Thursday's matchup against the Magic.

Biyombo logged a combined 15 minutes in the last two games with Cody Zeller back in the starting lineup. He's only an option in deep leagues if you're still scouting for some rebounds and blocks

  • Bismack Biyombo - C - Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo started on Tuesday night but only played 14 minutes with Cody Zeller back in action.

Biyombo had seven points, six rebounds and a block, so at least he was active in his time on the floor. He can be dropped unless you need boards and blocks in deeper leagues, though his world could be very different very soon with the Hornets in the market for a center.

  • Bismack Biyombo - C - Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo did not have enough to hang against Al Horford in a 94-126 loss to the Celtics on Wednesday as he delivered two points, five rebounds, two assists and one block in 14 minutes.

It was not just Biyombo who broke owners' hearts with Willy Hernangomez also bombing out with two points, two rebounds and two dimes in nine minutes. The Hornets dipped into their ultra-small-lineup well tonight with guys like Marvin Williams, Miles Bridges and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist taking a slice out of the center-minutes pie.

  • Bismack Biyombo - C - Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo fouled out in 29 minutes on Wednesday, but had nine points and 10 rebounds on 2-of-5 shooting in a win over the Grizzlies.

He has had to fill in as the starting center while Cody Zeller is out with a fractured hand and has put up late-round value since he got the job. He is good source of rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage for most formats while he is seeing minutes in the upper-20’s. Willy Hernangomez only played 18 minutes and put up eight points with nine rebounds.

  • Bismack Biyombo - C - Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo logged 24 minutes for the Hornets on Sunday and served up a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds and one blocked shot.

It was not an eye-catching line but the takeaway here is that it's something that's, at the very least, the kind of production worthy of a roster spot in 14-team leagues or deeper. Willy Hernangomez was but a shadow with six points and three rebounds to his name in 18 minutes of action.

  • Bismack Biyombo - C - Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo dropped a great line of 11 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and five blocks in a win against the Suns on Saturday.

He shot 5-of-7 from the field and was able to stay on the floor after Willy Hernangomez outplayed him in their last game. It was great to see the block numbers tonight and owners were hoping to see that kind of production every time he steps on the floor. You can stream him for rebounds and blocks but his inconsistency might make you consider other options instead.

  • Bismack Biyombo - C - Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo scored four points on 2-of-3 shooting with 10 rebounds and three blocks over 25 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Kings.

Biyombo has been on the radar toward the bottom of the top-200 since taking the starting job, and has a nice advantage in 9-cat leagues for what it's worth. He's not going to be good but he can help you with some boards and blocks until Cody Zeller is back.
