Cheick Diallo

Fantasy News

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo closed the season on an efficient note, shooting 5-for-7 from the field for 11 points with six rebounds, five assists and one 3-pointer in 24 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Warriors.

Diallo has been poised for a jump in production and fantasy value for a few seasons now. His per-36 averages have remained steady for each of his three seasons (16 points, 13 boards, over a steal and a block plus his good percentages), but his minutes per game increased just 2.6 to 13.8 in 2018-19. And, that's due mainly to Anthony Davis sitting out here and there. Diallo's per-game rank fell just inside the top 250 this season. Maybe next year could be the year that he makes a significant jump in minutes if the Pelicans find themselves without Davis and Jahlil Okafor, but it's still not too likely.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo posted 12 points and 11 rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting on Friday night.

The double-double was nice for Diallo, but this was his fifth straight game without a defensive stat which has curbed his value over that time. The third-year big man is a decent streaming source for big man stats, especially on nights when Anthony Davis doesn't play.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo came off the bench on Sunday to deliver a 12-point, 10-board double-double in 21 minutes in the 102-130 loss to the Lakers.

The Pelicans have nothing to play for this season and the entire roster seems to realize it. Diallo and Christian Wood are two guys who are still putting in a real effort as its their chance to compete for a spot in the rotation next season.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo didn't do much of note in his first career start, scoring five points with six rebounds in 19 minutes on Tuesday night.

Diallo also picked up four fouls, which may have paved the way for Christian Wood's insane performance. The Pelicans aren't in a position to stick to hierarchy when a young player comes through so we could see Wood play more going forward, even if Diallo keeps starting when Anthony Davis sits. He's a better play than Jahlil Okafor, who went scoreless in eight minutes tonight.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo will make his first career start on Tuesday against the Hawks.

Usually Jahlil Okafor starts when Anthony Davis is out, but it's nice to see Diallo get the nod. He's a much better fantasy option and could be a solid pickup if Davis gets shut down. We'll see how he does tonight.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo tallied 10 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and a block in 25 minutes against the Suns on Saturday.

Diallo continues to pump out steady numbers, and if you need the usual big man numbers then he's fine to pick up. It'd take an Anthony Davis shutdown to make Diallo a must-add player but there's already solid utility in certain builds.

  • Jahlil Okafor - C - New Orleans Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor will get the start for Anthony Davis (rest) on Friday vs. the Blazers.

Okafor had a stretch of top-25 play for a few weeks but that seems to have disappeared since spraining his ankle, even when he gets a spot-start for Davis. Cheick Diallo has had the better returns of late though he hasn’t exactly been setting the league on fire either.

  • Anthony Davis - F/C - New Orleans Pelicans

Anthony Davis (rest) will not play on Friday vs. the Blazers.

Davis’ absence means Jahlil Okafor and Cheick Diallo will both get opportunities to produce though Diallo has been the better of the two lately.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo predictably saw limited action against the Bucks but was able to post 11 points (5-of-7 shooting), six rebounds and a block in 14 minutes on Tuesday night.

Diallo improved upon Sunday's 12-minute, four-point outing and continues to flash some great upside. An Anthony Davis shutdown would make him a must-add player but right now he's a stream or luxury pickup.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo played 12 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Hawks, posting four points and four rebounds.

Diallo continues to tease with short spurts of standard-league production but can't string a nice run together with Anthony Davis still not shut down. He's a great luxury stash if you can afford such a thing at this point in the year, but otherwise he's tough to treat as more than a stream in most leagues.

  • Cheick Diallo - F - New Orleans Pelicans

Cheick Diallo chipped in 16 points on 8-of-15 shooting along with 12 rebounds in Friday's loss to the Raptors.

Anthony Davis sat this one out and Jahlil Okafor started but suffered a left ankle sprain and did not return to the game. He finished with two points and three rebounds in 17 minutes. Diallo could be in line for some extra burn even when AD returns, which is good since he's been a top-120 value over the last two weeks. That said, Diallo has been hit or miss and his lack of defensive stats tonight does cap his appeal.

  • Jahlil Okafor - C - New Orleans Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor has a left ankle sprain and will not return to Friday’s game according to the Pelicans broadcasters.

Okafor just returned after dealing with a right ankle sprain so we wonder if he was overcompensating and thus injured his other ankle. With Anthony Davis (back spasms) also out, Cheick Diallo should be owned in standard leagues. Okafor ended his night with two points and three rebounds in 17 minutes of action.
