The Heat and Chris Silva are nearing an agreement to convert Silva's two-way contract into a new three-year deal.

The new contract, if signed before Wednesday, would bestow Silva with Bird rights and open up a new two-way slot for the Heat. Silva has earned the new deal with excellent block and rebound rates this season, but he's buried in the perennially deep Miami rotation. Keep him in the back of your mind.

The Miami Heat are expected to sign Chris Silva to a multi-year contract this upcoming Tuesday according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Tuesday is the first day the Heat would be able to convert a two-way player to a standard contract. Silva has impressed during his time with the big club, so much so that they haven't sent him down to the G-League a single time throughout the duration of his two-way deal. He's got some tantalizing per-minute upside in rebounds and blocks, but likely won't see any minutes to realize that unless there are some injuries ahead of him.

  • Derrick Jones Jr.
    SF, Miami Heat

Derrick Jones Jr. (groin strain) will play on Thursday.

Jones just returned from a groin strain on Tuesday and while he's still dealing with some after effects (apparently), it's not enough to keep him out of the lineup. He's loaded with upside but will need to find his way into more minutes on a deep Heat squad. Chris Silva, who missed today's shootaround with an illness, is also available.

  • Dion Waiters
    SG, Miami Heat

Dion Waiters, Chris Silva and Udonis Haslem are all questionable heading into Thursday's game against the Suns due to various illnesses.

Chris Silva is the only one of these players that has cracked the rotation so far this season as he has averaged 8.6 mpg over seven games. They can all be left on the waiver wire for the time being.

The Heat have signed Chris Silva and Daryl Macon to two-way deals.

The Heat also waived Kyle Alexander, Davon Reed, Skyler Flatten and Bubu Palo. This leaves the team with 14 players on their active roster. Silva and Macon will have limited roles and little to no value in fantasy.

Ira Winderman reported on Twitter Friday night that Chris Silva will receive one of the two available two-way contract from the Heat.

An undrafted free agent and a former SEC co-defensive player of the year is off to a good start to his NBA career. With the Heat's track record of player development, keep him on your deep league watch lists.

  • Kz Okpala
    F, Miami Heat

KZ Okpala and Chris Silva (sprained left knee) will not play for the rest of Summer League.

Okpala, the 32nd pick in the draft, did not play at all in Vegas after he was held up in transaction formalities. Silva was signed to an Exhibit 10 contract yesterday, so he's not missing out on a chance at a spot by being ruled out here.

  • Jeremiah Martin
    PG, Miami Heat

The Heat signed Jeremiah Martin and Chris Silva from their Summer League roster to Exhibit 10 contracts on Thursday.

The real takeaway here is that the Heat have the ability to move them to the G-League affiliate after training camp.

Chris Silva (sprained left knee) has been ruled out for the rest of Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves.

Silva will likely be re-evaluated in the coming days. He finished his night scoreless in eight minutes of action.
