Cody Zeller

  • Cody Zeller
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Cody Zeller made an impact as the starting center on Wednesday, turning in a line of 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Zeller was productive in 22 minutes of play, while Willy Hernangomez didn't see any action. Zeller is capable of putting up solid stats when given the minutes in this lineup. It's just hard to count on a consistent spot for him.

  • Willy Hernangomez
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Willy Hernangomez put together 23 productive minutes off the bench on Thursday night, scoring 14 points and grabbing six boards.

The shot went down again for Hernangomez, who has actually had streaming value over the last couple weeks due to his rebounding and efficiency. He may have some value in deep leagues and as a cheap daily play down the stretch, especially if he and Cody Zeller continue to split minutes. Zeller played 25 minutes to put up 10 points and six boards.

Cody Zeller made his return to action on Tuesday night against the Spurs, after picking up a DNP-CD in each of the previous three contests, and had eight points, seven rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes.

The situation in Charlotte is aggravating, to say the least. Coach James Borrego seemed to think playing Bismack Biyombo over Zeller was the right move at this point in the season, but has apparently flipped on them and started Zeller tonight with Biyombo picking up a DNP-CD. Good luck trying to figure this one out. Our best advice is to steer clear of anyone in the Hornets' front court.

  • Bismack Biyombo
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo is getting replaced by Cody Zeller in the starting lineup, while Willy Hernangomez is expected to play the backup C minutes against the Spurs on Tuesday.

Biyombo may not see the floor tonight after starting the past three games and being a productive back-end big man. Willy Hernangomez and Cody Zeller are worth a look in deeper leagues as the Hornets continue to search for an answer at C.

Cody Zeller will start in place of Bismack Biyombo during Tuesday's game against the Spurs.

Biyombo started the past three games, but it looks like coach James Borrego will turn back to Zeller in this one. Zeller may have been dropped in your leagues and is worth a look at the end of benches if he is available.

Cody Zeller received a DNP-CD on Sunday.

This isn't the first time for Zeller and it certainly won't be the last, as he's now failed to check in in each of Charlotte's last three games. He's a low-end option when he's playing but right now Zeller is a clear drop with his playing time at all-or-nothing each night.

  • Bismack Biyombo
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo will start for the Hornets when they face the Raptors on Friday.

Cody Zeller seems to be getting limited activity for the Hornets and that is allowing Biyombo to get some larger opportunities when he rests. If you can get the timing down Biyombo will make for a nice streamer and DFS target. The situation is a mess in terms of reliability until we get better notice on Zeller's "rest" status.

  • Bismack Biyombo
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo fouled out in 27 minutes on Wednesday, finishing with 12 points (5-of-6 from the field), five rebounds, four assists and four blocks.

Biyombo got the start over Cody Zeller who was a DNP-CD on Wednesday. Willy Hernangomez came off the bench and scored seven points with three rebounds and four assists in 19 minutes. Biyombo is worth throwing on a watch list in standard leagues after this performance and the possible change in the Hornets' rotations. Biyombo is a speculative add in 14-team leagues, but don't cut someone with safe value for him. Hernangomez can be left on the waiver wire outside of 18-team leagues and Zeller is a drop.

  • Bismack Biyombo
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo will draw the start ahead of Wednesday's contest vs. the Knicks.

It was also reported that Cody Zeller would be active but would likely not play on Wednesday. Willy Hernangómez will be the primary back-up to Biyombo. Neither player is worth rostering in standard formats but Hernangómez has the higher upside.

  • Cody Zeller
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Cody Zeller posted an efficient 16 points and eight boards in 25 minutes on Thursday.

Zeller was perfect from the floor in this contest but this is close to the best case scenario for him. Unfortunately, he hasn't been the reliable top-100 per-game producer this season. He should be a good source for shooting percentage, rebounds and low turnover numbers.

  • Bismack Biyombo
    C, Charlotte Hornets

Bismack Biyombo will draw the start on Wednesday vs. the Wolves with Cody Zeller doubtful.

Biyombo doesn't belong on fantasy rosters this season but could be looked at as a very low-cost option for DFS as he will be matched up against James Johnson and Juan Hernangómez. It is still unclear if Zeller will play but it appears highly unlikely at this time.

Cody Zeller (facial lacerations) returned to the bench on Monday after receiving stitches and is probable to return.

He's sewn up and apparently ready to go. With the game still in question, look for him to return in the fourth quarter.

Cody Zeller left the court and went to the trainer's room on Monday in the third quarter.

Zeller started and has played 17 minutes to this point. The Hornets should provide an update shortly.

Cody Zeller scored 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting to go with seven boards, two assists and a steal.

Zeller had a solid outing last game with a big line and continued to play well tonight. There's a solid chance that he can be a low-end guy for traditional big man stats, but the Hornets have a lot of guys who can step up and phase out Zeller quickly so don't hang on for too long if he starts to slump.

Cody Zeller set a new career-high in assists in Saturday's loss to the Spurs, tallying 14 points, 12 rebounds, eight dimes, two steals and a block on 7-of-10 from the field.

Zeller's been a letdown for the most part this season, posting just top-170 value despite a nice setup. Losing his starting job to Bismack Biyombo (who's now getting DNPs) took the wind from his sails but Zeller has proven to be a top-125 contributor in the past. Hopefully this is more the norm going forward. Zeller's inside the top-150 over the last couple of weeks so you can feel free to take a shot here.
