The Hawks have waived Cole Aldrich.

Aldrich was spotted at practice today but rumors that he'd be heading to China ended up being true. He never saw game action for Atlanta so there's no impact on the rotation here, even in preseason.

The Hawks will sign free agent center Cole Aldrich on Tuesday.

Aldrich was expected to sign with the Hawks a few weeks ago but he'll be in the camp mix now that everything is in order. If he makes the final roster he'll still be buried on the depth chart and would need a number of injuries to sniff fantasy relevance.

According to Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press, Cole Aldrich is expected to sign with the Hawks at some point this week.

Aldrich spent the past two seasons with the Timberwolves, but barely saw the court while there. Unfortunately for Aldrich his new home will not impact his playing time much as he will likely be sitting behind John Collins, Dewayne Dedmon and Alex Len on the depth chart.

Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Wolves have waived Cole Aldrich

The Wolves will remain over the salary cap but this opens up a roster spot and will help them save a little bit of money in the short term. Aldrich initially inked a 3-year, $22 million contract with the Wolves in 2016 but never even obtained role player status. He played only 2.3 minutes across 21 games for them this year. The 29 year old will try to catch on as a veteran reserve elsewhere.

Cole Aldrich played 12 minutes in Saturday's drubbing, scoring four points with five rebounds as the Wolves got smoked in Philly.

Minnesota got to empty the bench early and it led to some very unexpected lines. Aaron Brooks scored eight points with a pair of triples. Marcus Georges-Hunt scored 11 points with two steals. Tyus Jones, who actually has some handcuff appeal, was productive with 11 points, six assists and three steals in 25 minutes. You shouldn't be making any moves that involve the Wolves bench unless you've got some insider knowledge on future garbage time.

  • Cole Aldrich and Gorgui Dieng both GTD’s

Cole Aldrich (sprained ankle) and Gorgui Dieng (sprained finger) are gametime decisions to play on Saturday. If both are set to miss time, there could be a whole lot of Karl-Anthony Towns on the floor.…
