  • Derrick Favors
    PF, New Orleans Pelicans

Derrick Favors scored nine points with nine rebounds in a 127-125 victory over the Bulls on Wednesday.

Favors started and played 21 minutes on Wednesday adding one steal and two blocks on 3-of-4 shooting. Favors looks to be the starting center for the Pelicans and is worth investing a pick in the middle rounds of drafts as part of this fast-paced Pelicans team.

Derrick Favors will be in the starting lineup for the Pelicans' Monday night contest against the Hawks.

Favors was listed as questionable due to hamstring tightness. He should be a solid pick in the middle rounds of drafts. Last season he averaged 11.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.2 assists and 0.7 steals.

Derrick Favors (hamstring tightness) is being listed as questionable for Monday's preseason game versus the Hawks.

Favors is expected to be a major contributor, so it would not come as a shock to see him sit out as hamstring injuries could linger if not given the proper time to heal.

Derrick Favors was held out of scrimmage due to hamstring tightness.

Hamstring injuries can be tricky so the Pelicans were most likely being cautious with their new starting center. Favors is still projected to play in the season opener. Last season, he was able to put up early round value when not playing next to Rudy Gobert. Look for Favors to have a big contributor in field goal percentage, rebounds and blocks, while increasing his scoring. He is a great middle-round pick in standard leagues.

  • Zion Williamson
    PF, New Orleans Pelicans

According to head coach Alvin Gentry, the Pelicans should lead the NBA in pace next season or he will be "very disappointed."

He pointed out Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and Derrick Favors as rebounders that can push the ball in a Draymond Green-esque manner. Gentry said that the teams that run that style of offense have at least one big man that can push the ball up the floor, and he believes that they have multiple guys like that. The Pelicans are seemingly going to shift to a "seven seconds or less" offense if Gentry stays true to his word, which could benefit the fantasy value of all rotational pieces on the roster.

    PF, New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans have officially acquired Derrick Favors for second-round picks in 2021 and 2023.

Favors has a chance to start at center for the Pelicans, though it's not a sure bet considering the lack of shooting that a Favors-Zion Williamson frontcourt would have to offer. Last season proved that Favors can return top-100 value in under 25 mpg, which means he should still be a standard-league asset despite the change in scenery. Our big question is how he'll fit in on a Pelicans team that looks ready to push the tempo.

Tony Jones has reported that the Pelicans have traded for Derrick Favors from the Jazz.

The Pelicans are sending assets in the form of picks to the Jazz in exchange for the PF/C. Favors should be in an interesting situation as a possible mentor to Zion Williamson in New Orleans.

Zach Lowe has reported that the Pelicans are closing in on a deal to sign Derrick Favors.

This is an interesting move by the Pelicans, who already have a relatively deep frontcourt. That said, Favors could serve as a still-young mentor to these developing assets. Stay tuned.

    PF, Utah Jazz

Derrick Favors has received interest from the Clippers, Knicks, Kings, Hawks and Mavs according to Tony Jones of The Athletic.

After signing Bojan Bogdanovic it's clear that the Jazz will not pick up his team option, though the Favors camp has already been operating as though he's a UFA anyway. Favors can't space the floor like a lot of modern power forwards but he remains a strong, traditional player who can crash the glass, bang in the paint and score in the post. There's a place for that in the league, and Favors should be able to carve out something like 25 mpg wherever he winds up. Some destinations on that list make more sense than others but we'll wait on his decision before getting too in depth.

    PF, Utah Jazz

According to sources of Tony Jones of The Athletic, Derrick Favors is in a holding pattern while interested teams wait for clarity about what the Jazz will do with his team option.

The Jazz are taking this decision all the way down to the finish line with just a couple hours to go before free agency officially begins. Favors is drawing interest from a handful of teams and it will be much easier for him to figure out his future once the Jazz decide what they want to do. We all should get an update soon.

    PF, Utah Jazz

According to Shams Charania of the Athletic, Derrick Favors will field calls from several interested teams and act as if he will be an unrestricted FA, a sign that he doesn't expect the Jazz to pick up his team option.

Favors has gone on the record indicating that he'd love to return to Utah, but it appears that they are interested in allocating the 17 million he would have made, elsewhere. Favors has always struggled to maximize his fantasy potential playing next to Rudy Gobert, and perhaps a situation with a less clogged paint could do more for his value.
