  • Derrick Favors - F/C - Utah Jazz

Derrick Favors said, "I have a team option; I need that option picked up! I would prefer to come back here," when asked if he'd like to return to the Jazz next season.

Favors likes the fit with the organization but ultimately the team holds all the cards thanks to his team option. They would add $17.65 million to the cap by letting him go, which is money they could use elsewhere on the roster with Ricky Rubio, Thabo Sefolosha and Ekpe Udoh unlikely to be back as well. While Favors waits on a decision, he'll continue to work on improving his physique and expanding his shooting range. He was a top-100 fantasy player last season and may produce more with a different team that's willing to use him as a starter.

Derrick Favors said he is looking to cut more weight during the offseason.

“It’s something I’ll be focusing on again in the offseason,” Favors said. “I’ll be slimming down even more. Getting quicker so I’ll be able to guard on the perimeter and be able to guard in the pick and roll.” Favors dropped 26 pounds during heading into the 2018-19 season and just finished his second straight season with at least 76 games played. Favors has one more on contract with the Jazz and will likely pick up his player option this summer.

Derrick Favors was moved to the bench on Saturday night but made the most of his 15 minutes, netting 13 points with four rebounds and two blocks.

Favors has been solid if unspectacular throughout this series, and the fact of the matter is that he simply doesn't have a natural foil in this matchup. We'll see if Utah dials back his minutes even further or tries to play some bully-ball down 3-0.

  • Derrick Favors - F/C - Utah Jazz

Derrick Favors played well in his 22 minutes of action in a Game 2 loss to the Rockets on Wednesday, with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Although Favors is putting up good numbers in such limited minutes, you should not expect to see him go above 25 minutes at all in this series. He shot 7-of-11 from the field and missed both of his attempts from deep. Also, the Rockets play a lot of small ball as PJ Tucker is their power forward, so Favors is often at a defensive disadvantage when on the court.

Derrick Favors only played 24 minutes in the Game 1 loss to the Jazz on Sunday, but he had 13 points and six rebounds on 5-of-8 shooting.

He also contributed three assists, one steal and one block while shooting 3-of-4 from the line. Favors does not typically play above 24 minutes, but the Jazz might need him to play a bit more if they want to win some games in this series.

  • Derrick Favors - F/C - Utah Jazz

Derrick Favors played in 76 games in 2018-19 and finished the season with top-100 value in 8/9-cat per-game value.

Overall, 2018-19 was kind to Favors, who posted averages of 11.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 1.4 blocks per game in 23.2 minutes as the team's starting power forward. He will be entering his ninth season in the league at 28 years of age next season and we can expect to see him deliver production in this ballpark assuming the Jazz don't make any major roster changes in the off-season.

Derrick Favors (back spasms) will not be available on Sunday against the Lakers.

Derrick Favors (back spasms) will not be available in Friday's matchup against the Kings.

Favors has been dealing with back spasms for the past week. As the Jazz prepare for the playoffs, they will most likely rest Favors until he is fully healthy. Jae Crowder and Royce O'Neale should eat up most of Favors' minutes and they both can produce if given ample playing time.

The Jazz are ruling Derrick Favors (back spasms) as out for Wednesday's game against the Suns.

With Favors out we should see a lot more of Jae Crowder and Royce O'Neale at the four. Both make for decent streaming options in an easy matchup.
