The Blazers have waived Georgios Papagiannis, paving the way for him to return to Europe.

It was reported that he'd be heading overseas despite remaining under contract with the Blazers and the situation has been resolved. Papagiannis never really developed after the Kings went off the board and selected him 13th overall back in 2017. That's not all his fault, but he's headed back to Greece to continue his basketball career for the time being. It's possible that Papa G returns to the league in the future but he's a ways away from living up to his draft status. Again, not his fault.

Panathinaikos B.C. of Greece is expected to sign Georgios Papagiannis, if the Blazers don't guarantee his contract.

The Blazers have until July 19th to guarantee his deal for next season but it is unlikely that he will remain in the NBA after a disappointing summer league. The Greek big man will then likely sign a multi-year agreement with Panathinaikos.

Georgios Papagiannis is reportedly likely to return to Europe.

He's expected to have interest from several Greek teams and his standing on the Blazers depth chart doesn't make it look like he'll get a ton of NBA playing time. The former 16th overall pick is a ways away from being an impact NBA player.

Georgios Papagiannis will sign with the Blazers for the rest of the season.

Papagiannis signed a 10-day with Portland after being waived by Sacramaneto but has yet to appear in a game with the Blazers. They’re pretty deep in the frontcourt so we don’t expect that to change.

Big man Georgios Papagiannis is signing a 10-day deal with the Blazers.

Papagiannis was recently waived by the Kings following the trade deadline, just two years after being the No. 13 pick in the 2016 NBA draft. He is not expected to make a difference in a crowded Blazers’ frontcourt as he averaged just 4.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 38 games with the Kings.
