Jabari Bird will be waived by the Hawks after being traded from the Celtics.

Bird was either dealt for a top-55 protected draft pick or cash, depending on which report out there you believe. Either way it's irrelevant as Boston made the deal to open up a roster spot so they can get active on the buyout market. Bird is facing extensive legal issues following disturbing charges this summer, including kidnapping, strangulation and domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, and may be facing the end of his NBA career.

Jabari Bird said in a statement that he's stepping away from the Celtics indefinitely.

Bird has some very serious and disturbing allegations lobbied against him. Expect a lengthy investigation and heavy discipline from the league if even part of the story is true.

Jabari Bird is currently being held on $50,00 bail on charges of kidnapping, strangulation and domestic assault with a dangerous weapon.

The Celtics released a statement and said that they are "deeply disturbed" by the allegations. They will help the league and local police with the investigation.

Jabari Bird was arrested in Boston on Friday night on assault charges after domestic incident.

He is currently undergoing evaluations at a local hospital while under police custody. Chris Forsberg of ESPN writes that complaints will be sought against the suspect for assault, battery, strangulation and kidnapping. Nothing is imminent yet and more updates are sure to follow. The Celtics have released a statement that they are aware of the situation but refrained from commenting. Bird recently signed a two-year deal with Boston.

Jabari Bird and the Celtics are reportedly close to finalizing a two-year deal.

Bird was the No. 56 pick in last year's draft and ended up signing a two-way contract. He didn't play much, and doesn't figure to again, so we'll have to see what the guarantees are like on that second year. Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe is saying that the second year is conditional, which makes sense. Bird will help bolster Boston's depth on the wings but would need multiple injuries to see substantial minutes.

Jabari Bird put up 13 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals in Thursday's win against the Knicks.

Bird has been impressive on offense this summer but the Celtics want him to focus on improving his defense. There may be a spot on the team if the Celtics end up signing Bird, and if Marcus Smart ends up leaving in free agency Bird may be able to grab a few minutes at the end of the rotation.

Jabari Bird scored 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting (6-of-6 FTs) with three rebounds and three steals over 32 minutes in Saturday's Summer League loss to the Nuggets.

Bird looked solid — speaking to the Celtics' depth — but he's going to have no real chance for fantasy value this season.

  • Semi Ojeleye
    F, Boston Celtics

Semi Ojeleye scored 16 points (two 3s) and added two boards, two assists, a steal and a block in Friday’s 95-89 win over the Sixers.

The Celtics seem to have given the keys to young Semi in the Summer League and he’s looked pretty good in that role playing within a team concept. Guerschon Yabusele also got 16 points (one 3), seven rebounds and a block for the Celtics while Jabari Bird chipped in 14 points with a three, eight boards and a team-high plus/minus of +19.

  • Jabari Bird
    G, Boston Celtics

The Wolves and Sixers have indicated interest in RFA guard Jabari Bird.

Bird was a second-round pick last season and didn't play much on a deep Celtics squad, even with their injuries. Boston figures to be plenty deep in the backcourt again this year so they might not match if a team offers up something above-market. While other organizations might take a flier on a young guard, what happens with Bird will have no fantasy impact.

  • Jabari Bird
    SG, Boston Celtics

Jabari Bird started in Wednesday's season finale with the Celtics resting multiple regulars and recorded seven points, seven rebounds, an assist and a steal in 29 minutes.

Someone had to soak up minutes tonight. Bird played in only 13 games in his rookie campaign and was miles away from the fantasy radar.

  • Jabari Bird
    SF, Boston Celtics

Jabari Bird and Abdel Nader will both move into the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nets.

It sounds as though Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are both resting tonight, opening up playing time for some other guys. Bird could be worth a look as a low-end DFS play but other than that there's not a ton of value here.

    SG, Boston Celtics

Jabari Bird logged 24 minutes in Friday's home win and delivered 15 points, three rebounds, three assists, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer while shooting 7-of-10 from the field.

Bird either set or tied a career-high with all of those numbers. He got the extra run with the Celtics gutted and resting a couple guys tonight, so there's no need to react to this solid performance. We'd be shocked to see Bird in the rotation when the Celtics aren't giving guys the night off.

Jabari Bird will be available for Sunday’s game against the Pelicans.

Bird has been dealing with back problems since January 10th, so it’s good to see him ready to roll again. The rookie has incredibly long odds at stumbling into fantasy value even given all of Boston’s injuries.
