Jaxson Hayes

Fantasy News

  • Jahlil Okafor
    C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor (lower left back spasms) is being listed as out for Tuesday's game against the Blazers.

It will once again be Jaxson Hayes and Nicolo Melli getting all the run that they can handle in a depleted frontcourt. Hayes is coming off a 10 point, 10 rebound and three block performance and is a cheap DFS target on Tuesday's small slate. With Derrick Favors health an uncertainty Hayes also makes for a target in season long leagues.

  • Brandon Ingram
    SF, New Orleans Pelicans

Brandon Ingram is listed as questionable to face the Blazers on Tuesday due to right knee soreness.

Nicolo Melli and Jaxson Hayes have both performed well with all the frontcourt injuries. Even if Ingram returns, they should still play a fair amount because Derrick Favors and Jahlil Okafor are still injured.

  • Derrick Favors
    PF, New Orleans Pelicans

Derrick Favors will miss Tuesday's game due to left lower back spasms.

With Jahlil Okafor also listed as doubtful, Nicolo Melli and Jaxson Hayes should see plenty of time on the court. Both scored double digit points on Sunday.

  • Jahlil Okafor
    C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor is doubtful to play on Tuesday due to a left ankle sprain.

Okafor has not played since November 11. Nicolo Melli and Jaxson Hayes will continue to get more opportunities in his likely absence.

  • Jaxson Hayes
    PF-C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jaxson Hayes picked up a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 108-100 win over the Warriors on Sunday.

Hayes shot 3-of-5 from the field and added one steal and one block to the box score. When the Pelicans are fully healthy, he will likely not have a big enough role to warrant much fantasy value even in deeper leagues. However, he makes for a solid DFS start in games like this one when half of the roster is injured.

  • Jaxson Hayes
    PF-C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jaxson Hayes is slated to start the first game of his career on Sunday versus the Warriors.

The Pelicans are thin and will have to rely on Hayes and Nicolo Melli to handle the center minutes. Both are viable streaming and DFS options.

  • Derrick Favors
    PF, New Orleans Pelicans

Derrick Favors (back spasms) has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Warriors.

The Pelicans will also be without Jahlil Okafor and will need to rely on their youth in the frontcourt. Nicolo Melli and Jaxson Hayes will see extended run and our both solid value plays for DFS tonight.

  • Jaxson Hayes
    PF-C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jaxson Hayes blocked two shots and grabbed one steal on Saturday to go with 12 points on a perfect 6-of-6 from the field in 24 minutes.

Hayes saw extra minutes on Saturday with Derrick Favors (back spasms) leaving the game early and not returning. Hayes should have more minutes if Favors misses time and is worth a look as a short-term option. Hayes is only a deep-league player when Favors is playing but has intriguing upside and is worth watching to see if he can get consistent minutes for the Pelicans, especially late in the season if the Pelicans want to give their younger players an extended look.

  • Jahlil Okafor
    C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor (left ankle sprain) is out against the Heat on Saturday.

Okafor made the most of his opportunity earlier this season with Favors out and appeared to have secured a spot in the rotation but will have now missed three of the last four games. Jaxson Hayes and Nicolo Melli will backup Derrick Favors again on Saturday.

  • Jahlil Okafor
    C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor will not play on Thursday vs. the Clippers due to an ankle injury.

Okafor could have seen more minutes in this contest if he was able to play as Brandon Ingram has been ruled out due to knee soreness. Expect Derrick Favors to play extra minutes on Thursday while Jaxson Hayes might also play some more.

  • Brandon Ingram
    SF, New Orleans Pelicans

Brandon Ingram has been ruled out ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Clippers due to right knee soreness.

Ingram has been excellent so far this season in the games that he has been healthy enough to play. This game will mark his second consecutive absence and the Pelicans will likely be cautious with their leading scorer (25.9 points per game). Expect Derrick Favors and Kenrich Williams to see more minutes in this contest while rookie Jaxson Hayes might see a few extra minutes.

  • Jaxson Hayes
    PF-C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jaxson Hayes is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Rockets after taking a shot to the ribs first half.

Hayes so far has played for just two minutes in the game and had an alley-oop dunk.

  • Jahlil Okafor
    C, New Orleans Pelicans

Jahlil Okafor played well in a start for Derrick Favors (knee soreness) on Saturday, recording 15 points on 7-of-14 shooting with 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.

Okafor should continue with short-term value while filling in for Favors. Jaxson Hayes, (four points, five rebounds, 14 minutes) was plagued with foul trouble, again, is still adjusting to pro-level play.

  • Derrick Favors
    PF, New Orleans Pelicans

Derrick Favors (knee) didn't go through shootaround and remains doubtful for Thursday's game against the Nuggets.

Favors already missed Monday's game and him not being able to practice means he probably won't be able to suit up on Thursday against the Nuggets. Favors has not looked like himself during the first three games of the season, and him not being able to practice isn't a good sign. The Pelicans are 0-4 to start the season and want to pick up the pace. If Favors isn't able to suit up, it will be Jahlil Okafor and rookie Jaxson Hayes getting his minutes at center. On Monday it was Hayes who turned in the better line and played the most minutes (24).

  • Derrick Favors
    PF, New Orleans Pelicans

Derrick Favors (left knee soreness) is doubtful to play in Thursday's game against the Nuggets.

Favors missed Monday's game and is trending towards not being able to suit up again on Thursday. Fantasy owners likely spent a mid-round pick on Favors so it may be wise to hold onto the veteran for a bit longer before parting ways unless there is a sure-thing on the waiver wire. Jahlil Okafor started in place of Favors but it was rookie Jaxson Hayes who took Favors' minutes in the rotation. Don't assume that to repeat on Thursday as the Nuggets have a much different roster than that of the Warriors. However, it is possible that Hayes plays double digit minutes again on Thursday if Favors ultimately sits out.
