Jaylen Hoard

  • Hassan Whiteside
    C, Portland Trail Blazers

Hassan Whiteside (right hip) was not able to practice and is listed as questionable ahead of Thursday's matchup against the Bucks.

Whiteside has been the only healthy center for the Blazers who are without Zach Collins and Jusuf Nurkic. The team is already razor-thin in their frontcourt and are 5-10. If he is forced to miss this contest, Anthony Tolliver, Nassir Little, and Skal Labissiere could see the extra run. The Blazers also recalled Moses Brown and Jaylen Hoard from the G League.

Blazers recall Moses Brown and Jaylen Hoard from G League for Thursday's game against the Bucks.

Although Brown and Hoard are unlikely to see meaningful minutes, it makes sense for the Blazers given the lack of depth in their frontcourt. Hoard is averaging 18.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assist. In one game with the Trail Blazers this season, Hoard recorded one rebound.

Blazers recall Moses Brown and Jaylen Hoard from G League for Sunday's game against the Hawks.

Although Brown and Hoard are unlikely to see meaningful minutes, it makes sense for the Blazers to shore up their depth. Skal Labissiere rolled his ankle in Friday's game and Rodney Hood exited with back spasms so this might be hinting on their availability for Sunday.

The Blazers have announced the signing of Jaylen Hoard.

Hoard man gets paid. Hoard has signed a two-way deal and will likely spend most of his season in the G-League, though Portland's decreasing frontcourt depth could mean he gets a closer look than most two-way players. Hoard, originally from France, averaged 13.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.6 blocks and 0.4 triples at Wake Forest last season.

Blazers sign undrafted rookie Jaylen Hoard on a two-way deal.

The Frenchman arrived in the states in 2016 to finish high school and then was the first one-and-done player in Wake Forest history. He put up 13.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.6 blocks and 0.4 triples and 2.5 turnovers with a 45.8/22.6/71.7 shooting line in his lone college season.
