Candace Buckner of the Washington Post is reporting that the Wizards have released Jonathon Simmons.

Simmons was acquired along with the 42nd pick in the draft for cash considerations. It's clear that the draft pick is really what Washington wanted, and there's no sense in keeping a veteran bench wing on a rebuilding roster.

The Sixers have shipped Jonathon Simmons and the 42nd pick of the 2019 draft to the Wizards for cash considerations.

Jonathon Simmons didn't really fit into the Sixers' long-term plans and this move helps them clear some space and add cash to add Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris back on to the roster for the long haul.

Coach Brett Brown said that Jonathon Simmons will be ahead of Zhaire Smith in the rotation for Game 1 on Saturday.

Although Smith started the last two games of the season, he has only appeared in six games all year while Simmons has four years of experience with some playoff run with the Spurs. Neither is expected to have much of an impact off the bench in the playoffs with Simmons' minutes likely in the teens.

Jonathon Simmons dropped 20 points, seven boards, five assists, one block and three 3-pointers in 30 minutes of action in Wednesday's win over the Bulls.

At least Simmons finished the year on a high note. He was expected to take on a larger role when coming over in the Markelle Fultz trade, but just straight up played poorly for the Sixers and fell out of the rotation. He will finish the year outside of the top-300 in 8 and 9-cat formats and his only bright spot were his final four games during peak silly season where he posted about top-75 value.

Jonathon Simmons played 16 minutes on Saturday night.

Simmons scored one point with three assists while racking up four fouls, but this is only notable because he was coming off a DNP-CD. James Ennis got those honors tonight and obviously neither is a fantasy option.

Jonathon Simmons led the Sixers bench with 15 minutes on Tuesday night, producing seven points, a 3-pointer and a steal.

The Sixers' bench is wide open right now and it looks like Simmons is going to get first crack at shoring up the wing depth here. James Ennis was a DNP-CD while Furkan Korkmaz saw just 11 minutes. There's not much to look at here for fantasy owners, but if Simmons does end up being the guy atop the mountain then he might be worth a look in 20-teamers.

Jonathon Simmons wasn't expected to play on Sunday despite being listed as available but ended up seeing three minutes of garbage time.

Simmons had missed the last three games of his Magic career with a left oblique strain but should be ready when called upon in Philly. Brett Brown wanted to give Simmons more practice time before putting him into the rotation but it's unlikely that he carves out any fantasy value.

Jonathon Simmons (left oblique strain) is listed as questionable against the Lakers on Sunday.

Simmons does not have much fantasy value as a depth option in Philadelphia. He'll likely only see minutes in the teens, similar to that of the James Ennis' 14 minutes and Furkan Korkmaz's 12 minutes in Friday's game.

Jonathon Simmons has been traded to the Sixers along with a 2020 Thunder first-round draft pick protected in the top-20 and a 2019 Cavs second-round pick in exchange for Markelle Fultz.

Simmons gives the Sixers the guard depth that they desperately needed. Landry Shamet's minutes are up for grabs and Simmons should get some, if not most, of those. He'll be used as a defender for them – as they don't need another shot maker – which will limit his fantasy value.

Jonathon Simmons (oblique strain) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Wolves.

Simmons has sat for three consecutive games now, not that fantasy owners are scrambling as a result of his absence.

Jonathon Simmons (oblique strain) will not play on Tuesday night against the Thunder.

Look for Isaiah Briscoe to handle all the backup point guard work and Wesley Iwundu to handle whatever minutes Simmons would've handled on the wing.

Jonathon Simmons (abdominal strain) is doubtful to play against the Thunder on Tuesday.

Simmons has missed the last two games and Isaiah Briscoe will see extra minutes for as long as Simmons is out. This news only affects the deepest of leagues.

Jonathon Simmons (abdominal strain) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Thunder.

Simmons sat out on Saturday and has really faded into the background after emerging as a starter for Orlando last season. He's not a fantasy option, and if he sits again it would benefit Isaiah Briscoe — who is also not a fantasy option.

Jonathon Simmons (abdominal strain) has been ruled out of Saturday's game against the Nets.

Isaiah Briscoe jumped back into the rotation with Simmons out last game with zero points, five rebounds and eight assists in 23 minutes. The Magic come out with a win they might go with the group on Saturday.
