Dio looks at Minnesota's rookie, who could be a draft steal
October 29, 2018, 10:48 pmJosh OkogieG, Minnesota Timberwolves
Josh Okogie played well in Monday's win over the Lakers with a career-high 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting with a 3-pointer, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.
Okogie has looks great every once in a while and has the potential to get it done on the defensive end as well. This increased role is due to Andrew Wiggins sitting with a quad injury, but Okogie hustles more on defense and doesn't hamper the offense as much as Wiggins would.

Josh Okogie struggled on Friday night, starting for Andrew Wiggins but shooting just 2-of-10 from the field on the way to four points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal.
It's impossible to take anything away from this game as it was over in a hurry. Taj Gibson was the only guy not to post a disappointing line tonight, and things are not looking good in Minnesota these days. Between the rumor mill and the team's body language, you can just tell that the whole thing is a mess. Okogie does look like the top option as a replacement starter on the wing so he's a name to file away if you're keeping tabs on a potential handcuff.

Andrew Wiggins (quad) will not play on Friday against the Bucks.
Jimmy Butler’s (illness) status is still in the air. Look for Josh Okogie to get the start and he and Derrick Rose should have extra opportunities to produce.

Rookie SG Josh Okogie started with Andrew Wiggins (quad) out on Wednesday against the Raptors, scoring 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting (including two threes) with 11 rebounds, one assist and one block in 27 minutes.
Okogie has gotten some very nice run to start the year and he has been a mixed bag in the micro-view, but in the macro he is a fun stash in deep leagues and he will be on the radar in standard leagues from time to time it seems. He does a bit of everything and has nice athleticism, but consistency could easily be a problem during the first half of the season.

Josh Okogie will start in place of Andrew Wiggins (quad) on Wednesday.
Okogie logged 24 minutes Monday in a game Wiggins started but left early. He was not expected to get minutes in the rotation this early, but is the de facto starter if either wing is out. He is worth a start as a streaming option in daily leagues and will be a popular, low-priced DFS play.

Josh Okogie scored 12 points in 24 minutes on Monday night, also managing to lead the Wolves in field goal attempts (13).
There's multiple ways to read that last bit, but it's definitely not Minnesota's optimal distribution of shots, whether Andrew Wiggins is healthy or not. Okogie's defensive game is quite strong and he posted four boards and three steals tonight, so it's possible he holds low-end value as the fill-in starter if Wiggins (quad) misses time.

Rookie Josh Okogie started and logged 29 minutes in Saturday's game against the Mavs, scoring six points on 2-of-5 shooting (including a three) with five rebounds, two assists and one steal.
The numbers don't jump off the page but the minutes are solid and he's worth watching as the drama plays out in Minnesota. He's not worth a speculative add outside of very deep redraft leagues, and he's definitely on the radar in Dynasty formats.

Rookie guard Josh Okogie will start and make his NBA debut on Saturday against the Mavs according to Tom Thibodeau.
Okogie has a nice stat set and he's definitely on the radar in Dynasty leagues, but needs a lot more certainty and we need to see some production before he becomes a target in most standard leagues.

It was reported on Friday that Josh Okogie is not a part of the Timberwolves rotation early in the season.
Well, this is standard fare. Tom Thibodeau customarily has very tight rotations and until there is a seismic shift in the roster composition (a Jimmy Butler trade, perhaps?) it's hard to see a situation where Okogie breaks into the rotation to make a meaningful impact.

Rookie Josh Okogie will draw another start on Friday vs. the Bucks.
With Derrick Rose (rest) back in the stating lineup Okogie will shift to small forward even though he’s only 6’5″. It’s doubtful Okogie gets a full complement of minutes since Thibs loves his vets but Minny’s situation is in flux until we see how the Jimmy Butler situation is resolved.

Josh Okogie had only four points on 1-of-7 shooting in 25 minutes on Sunday against the Bucks.
This was a poor performance for Okogie as this was seemingly his opportunity to show why he deserves a spot in the Wolves rotation. They spent the 20th pick on Okogie and are hoping that he can be a good role player for them, but he has had a lackluster preseason thus far. He will likely hold little fantasy value for the upcoming season as his main skills are defensive and will not really play a role in fantasy box scores other than steals.

With Derrick Rose getting the night off to rest, the Wolves will start rookie Josh Okogie at shooting guard on Sunday against the Bucks.
This is a great opportunity for the rook to earn some run with the first unit. Based on Thibs’ preferences its unlikely that Okogie or anyone else will supplant Rose as a starter in the short term. Speaking to fantasy upside alone Okogie is much more intriguing than Rose so keep an eye out on how he plays tonight.

Josh Okogie scored 10 points while adding five rebounds, a 3-pointer and a steal in his preseason debut on Saturday night.
Okogie logged 20 minutes and played a pretty sound game. Rookies under Tom Thibodeau aren't typically targets but as you might've heard there could soon be a ton of minutes available on the wing for the Wolves. Dynasty leaguers should be viewing Okogie favorably these days while he might find his way into re-draft relevance sooner than expected if everything breaks right. He's got a nice skill set and we'd like to see what he could do in more minutes.
The Northwest has some high-end international players but plenty of breakout candidates
